Uchumachi

Caranavi is a province in the La Paz department of western Bolivia. It is located on the Andean Plateau, which is the most extensive high plateau on Earth outside Tibet. The mild climates and decent annual rainfall make for ideal coffee growing conditions. As of 2003, Caranavi is the main source for Bolivian coffee production.

This coffee is sourced from Hipolito & Mamani Carmen and their farm Uchumachi in Caranavi. They are part of AGRICAFE's Sol de Mañana program which aims to educate local producers by providing training and skills necessary to improve the quality of their farms. The producers are guided through every step of coffee farming, starting with the nursery, planting, harvesting, pest prevention, pruning as well as financial management.

With all of these new-found skills, Hipolito & Mamani we able to produce a fruity yet chocolatey coffee with notes of pear and prune.
