Nyeri County in central Kenya is located on the southwestern flank of Mount Kenya stratovolcano. It has the highest coffee pedigree in the country due to its rich volcanic soil and proximity to the lush territory of Aberdare National Park.
This coffee is sourced from the Gichathaini factory in Nyeri County. It is one of three washing stations that comprise the Gikanda Farmers Cooperative Society. The factory itself is owned by the farmers who deliver their cherries here. There are about 1,045 registered members and 770 active members who utilize the mill and, subsequently, are able to make elective decisions regarding factory representation and management.
