Oromia is a large and diverse region situated in the central and western parts of Ethiopia. It encompasses a varied geographical landscape, including highland plateaus, mountain ranges, and lowland areas. The region is rich in natural resources and features several lakes and rivers, contributing to its agricultural productivity.
This coffee is sourced from Musa Abalulesa and his family farm in Beshasha, Oromia. Musa operates his own farm at the edge of a forest. Single farmer lots are incredibly rare to find in Ethiopia, especially fully-washed lots like this one. In addition to his own farm, Musa also buys coffee from about a dozen farmers. Musa first started producing washed coffees in 2006 after winning a prize from the African Fine Coffees Association when he received a depulper and some funds that he used to expand his farm. Since 2016, he has been exporting his own coffees and certified his farm as fully organic.
The resulting cup reminds us of green apple, nectarine and lime.
