Huehuetenango is a department of Guatemala located in the western highlands and borders the Chiapas state of Mexico to the north. It is the country's most ethnically diverse region with a proud Mayan heritage.
This coffee is sourced from Arturo Villatoro at Finca Los Angeles in Hoja Blanca, Huehuetenango. Finca Los Angeles is located on the west side of his village. Rising from 1525 to 1800 meters above sea level, Arturo's lots exist on two sides of a sheer ridgeline. Mature Chalum, Mandarín, and Capulin trees rise at angles, providing afternoon shade for the Bourbon, Caturra, and Maragogype plants below. Pure mountain spring water is used for processing their coffees.
The resulting cup reminds us of chocolate covered berries, citrus & roasted nuts.
