I got this coffee quite a while ago, and while I was initially excited as it smelled incredible, I struggled to get this to taste as good as I wanted.
As it was described on the bag, this was a medium roast, with chocolate and fruity notes. However, my brews resembled closer to a dark roast profile. I had some minor success brewing at a lower ratio, but it was still not something that I really enjoyed. I started brewing it as an espresso and found some success with it in milk based drinks. But still, it was just "okay."
I had a chance to try this at Cafe Collectif and finally be able to taste it as it was meantto taste. It was fantastic, it was complex, fruity, and chocolately, it was a more mild flavor but very pleasant. I asked for the recipe from the roaster to see if I could get it right at home. I was unsuccessful. Maybe I just received a bad batch? Maybe there is something I'm still missing. Anyway, the potential is there, this can be a very good coffee, you just need to know how to unlock it.
