The Arusha Region is located in the Northeast of Tanzania. The region features the country's second highest mountain, Mount Meru.
This coffee is sourced from various small-scale farms located in the Arusha region. Like most African coffee producing countries, sourcing is done from a large number of smallholder farmers. They bring their harvested cherries to cooperatives and washing stations to receive payment for their labor. The sorted and processed lots are then put up for trade, either through private buyer networks or the Moshi Coffee Exchange where licensed exporters can purchase at auction.
The washed process gives a black tea and prune taste to this coffee. It has a juicy mouthfeel and a vibrant acidity that reminds us of grapefruit.
